We take time out here to bring you something totally unrelated to Bat Mitzvah news! Yes, it's true, life goes on! But we'll be back with more details and photos soon (consider that fair warning).
1. Check out this graph showing the numbers of jobs lost under Bush and under Obama. So, at least in this respect, things are looking up. (Meanwhile, the math textbook editor in me has a gripe about the graph itself—if the y-axis is labeled "jobs lost," then the y-axis itself shouldn't be in the negatives. That is, -1000 jobs lost is 1000 jobs gained. Am I right or am I right?)
2. I'm in love with this blog post, "This is the title of a typical incendiary blog post." Be sure to at least start reading the comments too. (via Fritinancy)
3. What do you suppose they did with all those "Colts 2010" Super Bowl shirts they had to print up ahead of time, just in case? This is nice: They sent them to Haiti to clothe those who lost everything in the earthquake. (via Mental_Floss)
4. Kinda funny, kinda depressing: Fax Machine Timeline.
5. My friend Atul Gawande was on The Daily Show last week! Wait, let me rephrase that: Someone I know personally made Jon Stewart laugh last week!

That's definitely a double negative on that graph. Wow. Wouldn't it be ironic if someone lost their job over that! Or didn't not lose their job. Or something.

How funny to see you linking to my old blog buddy Chris Clarke (number 2) via a completely different venue. That post of his is great, but just so y'all know, he is one of the best writers on the web (or anywhere else), and his non-humorous writing is beautiful, thoughtful, and thought provoking as well. He's been on my blogroll for years, and I am never disappointed.

Get out of here! You are friends with Atul Gawande? You are a fancy lady, Ms. Karen!
