On Saturday I took Pete and a pal to see The Dark Knight Rises. Here are my thoughts in no particular order:
1. It was way too long.
2. Anne Hathaway is teh awesome.
3. Bane is not as creepy as The Joker, but he is still plenty creepy. Also, not for nothing, but Batman should have punched him right in the face/mask thingy when he had his first opportunity.
4. I generally don't have a problem with movie violence, but this was somehow pushing it for me.
5. I was very pleased with the little ending "teaser." (If you don't know what it is and are not planning to see the movie, email me and I will reveal all!)
On Sunday Andy and I watched a Netflix DVD, The Sentinel. There's little that can go wrong with a formula like this: Michael Douglas plays a career Secret Service guy who finds himself being framed as the suspected traitor among the ranks. He knows that he is innocent and that therefore someone else is plotting to assassinate the president. Action ensues.
Afterward Andy and I checked out Wikipedia's list of Secret Service codenames for presidents etc., which was fun. If I'm ever invited to the White House and in need of protection, I want to be known as Editor, as in "Editor is approaching the motorcade!" (Specifically, I want someone to say that into the little microphone by his wrist, and then someone else should "copy that.")

A college kid I know got to work as a production assistant on The Dark Knight Rises. He said that Anne Hathaway is genuinely super nice.

I agree on your Dark Knight assessment. For some reason, the violence really got to me. And the movie was WAY too long.
Also, the whole "climbing" out of the pit scenario made no sense. Who hung the rope? Why didn't they pull the slack out of the rope so the climber didn't have to fall so far and hard? Why couldn't they just climb all the way up and out instead of making that ridiculous leap to a ledge?

I haven't seen TDKR, but it sounds like my short review of The Dark Knight - way too long and way too (pointlessly) violent.
