I hereby declare that camp is officially over! On Wednesday, after an entire summer of hot, dry weather, we drove through torrential rain to pick up Steph at camp, along with her mildewy, water-logged gear. She had the best summer of her life. She woke up on Thursday morning at 5:45am in her own bed—I think she was probably lonely after a whole summer surrounding by pals. I did laundry. And then some more laundry. And still more laundry.
Today was Pete and Julie's last day at day camp. They too had a blast. I think the CIT program was ideal for Pete; he's already looking forward to it again next year. He went to another CIT's house after camp, so I still haven't seen him yet, but I'm assuming his last day was fun. Julie had fun on her last day, signing Senior Camp yearbooks and such, and she will especially miss martial arts. We are looking into the studio where her beloved martial arts teacher works during the year. They've been doing a "Green Dragons" program that incorporates martial arts with other aspects of healthy living, so she now has a wheatgrass plant growing (fast and tall!) by the window and is making us smoothies regularly. Today we got strawberry-lemon-basil slushies.
The kittens are still enjoying Camp Verbatim. I can't get enough of them.
After less than an hour home, Steph said, "Mom, aren't you the one who hates when people talk baby talk to their pets?" Mea culpa. They are so freaking cute.

OMG! Those kittens in the basket! Best picture ever! Oh wait... is the dark one HUGGING the light one in the other pic? OMG! Now I can't decide! Btw, care to share Steph's strawberry-lemon-basil slushie recipe?
