Let's see, I've been working a little harder than I'd like, but all freelancers know that they takes work when they gets it. In the meantime:
Andy also had a birthday, but it wasn't a round number, so we won't mention it.
That same week, we celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary! Which, as I mentioned on Facebook, means that I've now been married longer than I was single. (Mind —> Blown) We had a fabulous dinner at Scampo, Lydia Shire's latest restaurant. I started with the most divine purple cauliflower soup—it was almost too pretty to eat!—and then had just about the best roast duck I've ever had. Andy went the all-pork route, with spaghetti with cracklings followed by suckling pig. We finished off with a plate of cookies. All in all, a wonderful evening, every bite of it.
Let's see, what else ... Pete scored his first varsity-level goal in soccer! And then, later in the game, he went to head the ball into the goal, but the goalie had other plans ... Pete ended up with a very mild concussion. (Don't tell my mother.) (Mom, if you're reading this, HE'S FINE.) He had to miss the last few games of the season, though.
Steph is doing great in her first semester at Wheelock. She is spending three afternoons a week in a Jump Start (similar to Head Start) program at a local preschool and loving it. She's doing really well academically and loves living downtown.
And me, what else besides working.... I spent Saturday at the Greater Boston Food Bank, helping sort food for needy families. I've said it before, but it's an amazing place. Oh, and I've recently been to a couple of events sponsored by the Boston chapter of the Editorial Freelancers Association. Most of us spend all day alone in our little home offices, so it's wonderful to get out and connect.
Hope you are all well out there in Internet-Land!
