Today was Pete's shark party. Is that a cake, or is that a cake? He had a ball, as did his sisters (Julie's first Big Kid Party; she kept saying, "I so excited! I so excited!") and all his pals. He also got way too many great gifts—and nothing objectionable! It was a great day, although I am absolutely beat now.
I feel as though I always have a big project looming over me—or, more likely, several. At least now I can check off Pete's party. I've arranged a Brownie field trip for this Tuesday, but I think everything's under control for that one. The big pisser right now is this stupid Bingo event I got roped into planning for Steph's school next Sunday. I was led to believe it was an annual event that just needed someone to head it up this year, but it turns out it's never been done, so I'm having to figure the whole thing out myself. I have a feeling it's going to bomb, but I just want it to be over with already. Will I ever learn to say NO? Apparently not, since I already agreed to run the same event again next year. . . .
UPDATE (8/27/05): Every month or so, I get an e-mail from someone asking me to help them make a shark cake. Well, here's what you do: You pull out your VISA card and hand it to the guy at the fancy bakery. He will do the rest. Honestly, I am so very not creative, it's hard to put it into words. So, sorry to disappoint, but I had nothing to do with the creation of this masterpiece. Good luck to the rest of you!
Wow, what a shark cake. How did you do it. My 4 year old wants a scary shark cake for his birthday.

It was so easy! All I did was call a fancy bakery and ask them to make it. ;-) You don't by any chance live in the Boston area, do you?

Hello, I pulled up your site getting ideas for a shark cake. My son is turning 6 and wants a shark party (sun14th) I think I am going to fashion a cake like yours. I am thinking a twinkie for the shark body(of course I'll need to tweak the twinkie into shape) and cutting triangles out of cookies for the fins. What did you use???

I absolutely love that cake, My sons 2nd birthday is coming up and he is a big shark tale fan!! I was hoping you could give me some tips on making a similar cake. I'm trying to budget this year and keeping things really simple at home. I thought that maybe if I baked my own cake it could save me some money. Thank you!
