Last night was the Potluck Dinner/Members' Meeting/New Members' Show at the neighborhood club we joined. There was a pretty good turnout—about 150 people—and, all in all, it was a very nice evening. The dinner was surprisingly good for a potluck. My section of the alphabet was required to bring a salad, so I made a Mediterranean pasta and veggie thingie, which turned out yummy. Nearly all of it was gone by the time I got to the salad table, and I had made a huge batch. I will post the recipe tomorrow; it's downstairs and I'm tired (read: lazy). It would have made a nice photo, because it was very colorful, but I was rushing around like a mad woman to get out of the house and just didn't get to it.
The show went fine. I did my little Emily Latella thing and even made a quick comeback when the woman playing Jane Curtin stomped on my line. So it went OK. Plus it's over.
Maybe it was the BYO (Hess Select), but the evening felt very nice and friendly and neighborly and corny (in the good way)—all the reasons I joined this club in the first place. Oh yeah, and to get on the pool wait list.
Thank you thank you thank you.
You're a lifesaver.
I love you.
