Tonight we revisited an old favorite, Veal Chops with Roasted Pepper Compote. Yum! We grilled the chops, although you could also broil them. Here are the ingredients for the compote:
3/4 cup drained, chopped roasted red peppers (from a jar is fine)
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 scallion, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 Tbsp minced fresh parsley
1 1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 1/2 tsp drained capers
1/8 tsp dried crushed red pepper
The chop looks so lonely in the photo because I kind of spaced out and didn't plan a side dish (starch), so we went sort of Inadvertent Atkins/South Beach—just meat and a salad.
We watched "Basquiat." I enjoyed it, especially Jeffrey Wright in the title role (has he been in anything else?) and Bowie as Warhol. What a casting dream that was! This movie offered more of a sense of the artist's demons than "Pollock" did.
Because I'm so damn honest: OK, this post is a bit of a fib. Last night we watched "Basquiat" while eating ribs (again). Tonight we had the veal chops while watching a few more episodes of "Sex and the City" (again). The post was more interesting this way, no?
