Somehow I missed this piece by Garrison Keillor, which came out a couple of weeks ago. It ties in nicely with my recent post about real Republicans; it begins "Something has gone seriously haywire with the Republican Party."
This is quite an essay. I wonder what rebuttals would be offered by people who disagree with it. What can they possibly say?
It is very well-written, but my ultra-conservative aunt would find fault with it somehow, somewhere. People of her persuasion are not rational or interested in facts; they only care that their version of reality be protected. They demonize everyone who disagrees with them and are neither readers, thinkers nor researchers so no one can successfully dispute their half-baked ideas.
