Julie did not want to go to school today. I could tell because she was crying and clinging to me and wailing, "I don't want to go to school today!" But I brought her, and she cheered up when she saw some new puzzles there. And, surprise of all surprises, when I said I was getting ready to leave her there, she said, "Bye, Mama! I'm not going to cry today!" Miracle.
I then called Dr. Bhatt, because Julie has kept a tissue pressed to her eye almost 100% of her waking hours since the surgery. At first I thought it was just because of the tearing, but now it seems to be a comfort thing. Dr. Bhatt said to put her glasses back on, and maybe that would make her feel as though her eye is "protected." Well, today she had the longest nap in history—when I came in from Steph's GI appointment (more on that in the next post) at 5:10, Julie was still sleeping! From about 1:30! So I woke her, and she was crabby, and I put her glasses on. She still wanted to shove a tissue in there, but I dissuaded her as best I could. She's a willful little girl.
