Julie's doing great! She had a very lazy afternoon yesterday, watching "Totoro" from the couch and eating crackers. She then slept about 11 hours. This morning we saw Dr. Bhatt, who was very pleased with the exam. She felt the surgery accomplished everything she'd set out to do, in terms of correcting the crossed eye. Whether this will translate into improved vision remains to be seen; she wants Julie to go without glasses for the next week and then have another exam. Julie's main complaint is the eye drops we have to give her three times a day. She just squeezes her eye shut and screams. The ointment was even worse; at least with the drops we have a chance of dripping some in. She was a little cranky and tired all day today; she had a big nap and then fell asleep right away at bedtime again. Her eye is considerably less puffy and red, but the skin below her eye looks a little bruised now. All in all, I think she's doing really well.
Now I can start worrying again about Stephanie, who is still bleeding. She's seeing Dr. Israel on Monday.
Karen,
I'm so relieved to hear all went well and that Julie is on the mend. BTW, my kids thoroughly enjoyed "Totoro" and have "Kiki's Delivery Service" in from Netflix for Friday Film Night.

Great news! Also, I forgot to tell you my eye drop technique. First, have Julie lie down and close her eyes. It helps to have her head on your lap. Put the drops in the inside corners of her eyes (while her eyes are still shut). Have her open her eyes. More drops will make their way in than in any other way.

My pharmacist brother-in-law just told me that one too! I tried it earlier. It wasn't 100% successful, but you're right: More got in than would have otherwise!
