Ever heard the Zen concept of a "worry basket"? Everyone's got one, but some people do everything they can to empty theirs as soon as something lands in it. Solve, ignore, delegate, whatever—just keep it empty. I, on the other hand, like to keep my worry basket nice and full. In fact, if it's threatening to get empty, I find things to put in it.
Today my worry basket contains an assortment of things that landed there on their own and things that I've placed there. I am no longer too worried that Stephanie's birthday will be cancelled due to illness. Despite her persistent cough, she went back to school today. Now I'm worried that it will be cancelled due to the foot or more of snow we're expecting Saturday night and Sunday morning!
Julie began coughing last night. From there, I have already immediately fast-forwarded to having to cancel her surgery on Wednesday. And then not being able to re-schedule for a few months. And then discovering that it's too late and her brain has already "turned off" the depth perception function.
I'm not currently worried about Pete, but I'll try to come up with someting over the weekend.
I'm glad to read that I'm not the only compulsive worrier. (or is it just another word for mother?)

I think that once you have kids the worry basket is just about impossible to empty out. Not freaking out over the contents thereof is the real trick.
