It turns out that I'd been worrying about the wrong thing all this time! Here I thought Stephanie wouldn't be well enough for her birthday party tomorrow, when it turns out it's already been cancelled because of this friggin' blizzard we're having! I was kind of ticked off when the swim club called today, a good 6 hours before the first snowflake fell. But they're talking about 2–3 feet, so what can you do. Of course, we'd already filled all the little goodie bags and I had just gotten home from picking up the cake, which is now in the deep freeze.
Cute, huh?
Steph was inconsolable. Until her friend Lexi walked over with her gift, which was a kit wherein you write and illustrate a book and send it off to the company and they send back a real typeset, hardbound book! Steph brightened up immediately and created a book called "The Day My Party Got Cancelled." That one act of thoughtfulness on the part of Lexi (and/or her mom) really made a difference. Meanwhile, rescheduling is going to be a bitch, since all the best dates and times will have been taken already. And we were lucky, because almost all her friends could go to this one. Phooey Phooey Phooey. We better get a few feet of snow, that's all I can say!
Happy Birthday to Stephanie! That's a very nice cake. Hope you can reschedule soon. I am wondering if you did get so much snow... we have some but mostly extremely cold weather.... we can barely get the car started...
