(No, this isn't about Dubya!)
"Wash your hands after touching money—you don't know where it's been!" But you can find out! Back in 1998, some folks launched a bill-tracking site called Where's George?, and it's still going strong. I had forgotten all about it until yesterday, when I happened to notice that a dollar bill I received in change at Whole Foods had something written on it in red pen. It said, "Please enter this bill at www.wheresgeorge.com" and the series year and serial number were circled. So I did! I learned that this bill was first entered in Garland, Texas, in October 2002. It then changed hands—who knows how many times?—until someone in Wilmington, North Carolina, noticed the inscription and entered it in May 2004. After that, it made its way up north, and I got it yesterday! The dollar bill that has been entered the most times at Where's George? started off in Dayton, Ohio, in March 2002, and has been logged in 15 times so far, most recently in Kincheloe, Michigan, in August 2004.
I've done the Where's George thing before. It's pretty cool! Our money leads such interesting lives.
