Speaking of bad movies, we watched "Coffee and Cigarettes" the other night. Or, should I say, we tried to watch it. We could not. It was unwatchable. It was unbearably boring. I know it's supposed to just show a bunch of people sitting around drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes, but I'm afraid Jim Jarmusch forgot that there has to be at least something even remotely interesting being talked about. I mean, "Seinfeld" was about nothing, but I loved it. This was truly nothing. I tried to decide whether it was just so very arty and edgy and hip that even I was missing something (and I think I'm pretty good at arty, edgy, hip movies—I even liked Jarmusch's "Down by Law"), but no. There was nothing to miss. Not even a wonderful cast, including Tom Waits, Bill Murray, Steve Buscemi, etc., all of whom I adore, could save this. Oh, wait, I did enjoy the scene with Alfred Molina and Steve Coogan, although even that one went on too long.
Can I say this any more clearly? DON'T BOTHER.
Thanks for the tip! You asked about worst movies... I despised Gosford Park - it was just plain awful.
