First we watched "Intermission," in which Meaney plays a Dublin cop. This was a terrific movie, with numerous intertwining plot lines. It was the first time I liked Colin Farrell, and Shirley Henderson was great as always. There was quite a bit of black humor, which is always a plus for me.
Then we watched "Monument Ave.," which takes place in Charlestown, where Andy works. It stars Denis Leary and is all about Charlestown's infamous "code of silence." It was extremely depressing, and realistic (although, as usual, I have to complain about some of the attempted Boston accents—just give it up, guys!). This time Meaney played a Boston-Irish crime lord, I guess you'd call him. Two bits of trivia: Cam Neely (Leary's long-time pal, apparently) has a cameo role, and a scene was shot in Andy's parking lot!
