Remember how bad* I felt that time I forgot to pack Pete's swimsuit for camp and he had to miss swimming? That was nothing. Today I really blew it. I spaced on the time of a birthday party he'd been invited to and he missed the whole thing! I have never done anything like that before. Even yesterday I remember thinking that he would have just a short break after Sunday school before heading off to the party, but by today I'd somehow gotten it into my head that the party was in the late afternoon. (Julie went to a late-afternoon party yesterday, so perhaps that's how the confusion arose.) I expected him to be upset and possibly even cry, but he was fine. I said, "Are you angry at me?" and he smiled and said, "Just a little bit." It's a good thing it wasn't one of his best buddies (in fact, this kid is not one of his real friends at all), but it was a laser tag party, which I think he would have loved. Shit.
*Not badly; read this if you've forgotten.
Hey, don't feel too bad. We've all been there. Alas, many times!!! ;-)
Sounds like you have a wonderful kid, tho. Something's working right!

Oh man, I've been there! That mommy brain is a killer, isn't it? I remember when my son's teacher called me at home and the conversation went like this:
Teacher: Hi Mrs. R. How are you?
Me: Oh I'm great. You?
Teacher: I'm just fine.
Me: Can I help you with something?
Teacher: Well, we had a half day today,so can you come pick up Mitchell?
Oh shit, totally forgot my kid! Another time my older one had to remind me that the younger one was at speech therapy and NOT at home with his visiting grandmother. And when did my older one give me this reminder? When he asked "Where is Josh?" and I told him "Josh is with grandma." Um no. Ooops!
