In April I bought four new Hunter humidifiers, one for each bedroom. About a month ago, Julie's stopped working for no apparent reason. I had bought them online from Allergy Buyers' Club, but I didn't have a receipt or packing slip or anything. (I know I bought them in April because I found it on my credit card statement.) So I called Hunter directly and they sent me a brand-new humidifier and asked me just to ship them back the old one in the new one's box! Very satisfied customer here.
It shows that sometimes going straight to the manufacturer is the way to go. I have had a similarly successful experience buying through http://airpurifiersource.com. They took back the purifier no questions asked...it was awesome!
