Yesterday was once again Mitzvah Day at our temple, and we once again prepared bag lunches for a local homeless shelter. Andy made dozens of PBJs, the kids decorated the bags, and then they helped me pack them up with snacks and drinks. There was a huge turnout this year, with people sending toiletries to American soldiers in Iraq, sorting and packing up books for kids at inner-city schools, making lasagne for a nearby soup kitchen, and much more. What a nice way to spend the morning, and the kids really got what was going on.
