I got a surprise in the mail the other day: Judy sent me a Le Creuset Tarte Tatin pan! It can be used in the oven or on the range (over low or medium heat). I own only one other Le Creuset item, a big blue Dutch oven that I have used regularly for years. They are just amazing products. Am I lucky or what?
This is my very favorite LC piece (and no I am not an LC junkie like some over at CT). Of course, it can be used for lots of stuff, but it really is the BEST thing for a tatin, because of the shape and the handles. You can make a tatin in lots of other pans, but sometimes the sinle handle, weight or lack of handles make it difficult to flip and turn out the tatin - you only get one chance.
The shape, design and weight of this pan guarantee you'll only need that one chance.
It is the only LC piece I have ever paid full price for!!
