We just got back from our long weekend in the White Mountains. I was all set to blog from up there, but I was thwarted at every turn. First my in-laws' DSL installation was delayed till next week. Then their neighbor, who I thought had DSL, didn't after all. Finally I tried to go wireless from a Starbucks at the outlet mall on the way home, only to find out that you need a T-Mobile account. WTF? I thought that once you had a wireless-enabled laptop, you could just walk in and get online. Not. So my Macbook is still a mo-blogging virgin. (And me, too, by extension, right?)
No WiFi?! That's not vacationing, that's barbarism!
Seriously, though. You do need to pay for the access in most commercial establishments. Caribou Coffee charges me $3.99 for a two hour block. Highway robbery, but what can you do. I just pull out my credit card and pay the crack dealer.

I'd get the shakes somewhere around hour twelve. I hope you had a great time in spite of the heathen connectivity conditions.

I had to use Starbucks when my house flooded in December. I hated paying for it,and it was a whole different vibe to have to watch the clock. (but it was worth it!)

Well when our free sources of life's good things dry up, we do what we have to do.
