We're back again from New Hampshire, where we always spend Labor Day weekend. We went to the Lancaster Fair as usual and also snuck in one last visit to Polly's Pancake Parlor before they close for the winter. Yesterday was rainy and cool, so we went back to the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich, Vermont. What a great place! All the exhibits are interactive—and fun! Everything is really interesting and well laid-out. My only regret was that the weather prevented us from exploring the outdoor exhibits and trails. I mean it, don't miss this place if you find yourself up north with kids.
I checked our phone messages when we got home; Steph's friend called for a playdate, Pete's speech therapist called to schedule one last session before school starts, Pete's friend's dad called to say that he had inadvertently exposed Pete (and thus the rest of us) to head lice at their playdate Friday morning, and . . . WAIT! What was that last one?! Ewwww! The good news is that we left right after the playdate, so the house has been empty for more than 72 hours, which I think means that any critters left here would be dead. We stripped the kids down and checked their heads and washed all their clothes and showered them and . . . that's all we can do. It's unlikely Pete got infested, because they weren't doing anything too roly-poly, and lord knows how many times we've gotten notices sent home from school that someone had lice and we still didn't get them; on the other hand, well, Ewwww! Here's hoping we dodged this bullet. This time, anyhow.
Thank goodness they can't spread over the internet. I started itching as soon as I read your post!
