1. The good news is that I have now seen The. Sappiest. Movie. ever made in the history of cinema, so I don't have that dread hanging over me anymore. The bad news is that—for reasons I can't really determine—I sat through all of "The Notebook" last night. It was like a train wreck; I just couldn't look away. Meanwhile, I've been playing a game with myself all day, trying to think of a cliché that wasn't exploited in this movie, but so far I haven't come up with a single thing.
2. A while back I mentioned that I didn't like Rachel Griffiths, the actress who plays Brenda on "Six Feet Under." Someone suggested I rent "Me Myself I," so I did. This was a great little movie! And it turns out that Rachel Griffiths is a terrific actress—I don't hate her, I just hate Brenda. I still don't much care for her looks, but that's neither here nor there. "Me Myself I" is the story of Pamela, a respected journalist, but single and wondering if she missed the boat by turning down a proposal of marriage 13 years before. A freaky accident occurs and—poof!—she is living the life she rejected back then. She's married with 3 kids (What must that be like??), but she's still her old self plunked down into this new life, so we get to watch her trying to figure out what she gave up. I liked this very much. Oh, and I'm adding this later: I was shocked to learn that Griffiths is an Aussie! Her role on "Six Feet Under" was so convincing that it never dawned on me she might not be American.
Woo-Hoo! I was the one who recommended Me Mself I - way back in February '05!
Glad you liked it. What do I win?
