If you know anything about me, you know that I actively dislike milk chocolate. Let's make this clear: I don't just prefer dark chocolate, I would rather eat no chocolate than eat milk chocolate. That being said, however, for some reason I do like M&Ms, which are milk chocolate. Go figure.
So it was with not a small amount of excitement that I learned of the new M&Ms dark chocolate candies—if I actually like their milk chocolate, their dark chocolate must be out of this world, right? Well, not so much. They're good, but I can't honestly say that I would be able to distinguish between regular M&Ms and the new dark M&Ms. Next time I plan to buy a bag of each and do a blind side-by-side taste test. I promise to report back with my findings.
Your dedication to research is admirable!

Everyone all together now: "It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!"

You'll be able to tell the difference, but you're right about it being subtle. The candy shell is the overwhelming element in M&Ms, and that's a fact that surprised me. The white chocolate version taste pretty much like the regular ones.
Eating dark chocolate M&Ms is not like eating dark chocolate. However, I did like them.
