TVLand has compiled a list of the 100 Greatest TV Catchphrases. They're just what you'd expect, ranging from "Book 'em, Danno" to "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" to "We are two wild and crazy guys" and everything in between. Of the list, here are the ones that mean absolutely nothing to me—and why:
_"Denny Crane" (Denny Crane, "Boston Legal") (Never saw the show.)
_"Do you believe in miracles?" (Al Michaels, 1980 Winter Olympics) (I saw the Olympics, I just don't recall him saying that.)
_"Don't make me angry ..." (David Banner, "The Incredible Hulk") (Never saw the show.)
_"God'll get you for that" (Maude, "Maude") (I saw the show plenty of times, I just don't recall her saying that.)
_"Have you no sense of decency?" (Joseph Welch to Sen. McCarthy) (I guess I know this one in a historical sense, but I never saw it.)
_"Holy crap!" (Frank Barone, "Everybody Loves Raymond") (I've seen the show a few times but don't recall him saying that. Or who he is, for that matter. The brother, maybe?)
_"How you doin'?" (Joey Tribbiani, "Friends") (I saw the show plenty of times, I just don't recall him saying that—or at least not often en0ugh to qualify it as a "catchphrase.")
_"I love it when a plan comes together" (Hannibal, "The A-Team") (Never saw the show.)
_"I'm Rick James, bitch!" (Dave Chappelle as Rick James, "Chappelle's Show") (Never saw the show.)
_"If it weren't for you meddling kids!" (Various villains, "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?") (I probably saw every single one in the '70s, but did they really say that line that often?)
_"Just one more thing ..." (Columbo, "Columbo") (Never saw the show.)
_"Let's get ready to rumble!" (Michael Buffer, various sports events) (No idea who he is.)
_"Never assume ..." (Felix Unger, "The Odd Couple") (I saw every one of these, but I don't recall this line.)
_"Nip it!" (Barney Fife, "The Andy Griffith Show") (I probably saw most of these, but I don't recall this line.)
_"Now cut that out!" (Jack Benny, "The Jack Benny Program") (Never saw the show.)
_"Oh, my God! They killed Kenny!" (Stan and Kyle, "South Park") (Never saw the show.)
_"Suit up!" (Barney Stinson, "How I Met Your Mother") (Never saw the show.)
_"Tell me what you don't like about yourself" (Dr. McNamara and Dr. Troy, "Nip/Tuck") (Never saw the show.)
_"That's hot" (Paris Hilton, "The Simple Life") (Never saw the show.)
_"The tribe has spoken" (Jeff Probst, "Survivor") (Never saw the show.)
_"This is the city ..." (Sgt. Joe Friday, "Dragnet") (Never saw the show.)
_"Welcome to the O.C., bitch" (Luke, "The O.C.") (Never saw the show.)
_"Whassup?" (Budweiser ad) (Don't remember this at all.)
_"Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?" (Arnold Drummond, "Diff'rent Strokes") (Never saw the show.)
_"You eeeediot!" (Ren, "Ren & Stimpy") (Never saw the show.)
_"You're fired!" (Donald Trump, "The Apprentice") (Never saw the show.)
Never saw the A-Team? How can you raise kids without the guidance and moral certitude that B.A. Baracus - Mr. T in perhaps his greatest role - brought to the world? "I ain't got time for your jibber jabber!"
Well said, T. Well said.

All I remember is "I pity the fool" -- and I think that was the "real" Mr. T, when he wasn't "acting."

Ren and Stimpy rocked. And the wazzup Budweizer commercial had it's moment, too. Let me enlighten you.

Unlike me who can clearly recall almost all of the phrases on the list, clearly your mind was filled with useless stuff like the Yalta Conference, Henry VIII's fourth wives, the periodic table and F Scott Fitzgerald.

Wow - "Scooby Doo" ended nearly every episode with the unmasking of the villain who would say sneer a permutation of "I would've gotten away with it if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!"
I remember "Maude" fondly from when I was wee - when her husband would get under her skin, she would growl "God'll get you for that, Arthur".
The one I can't believe isn't on here (and was a staple of my mom's when calling all five kids for dinner)was from the kid's show "The Electric Company" - "HEY YOU GUUUUUUUUUYS!" I believe it was hollered by Rita Moreno on the show, loudly and often.

Karen, I think your cultural life is incomplete without The Chappelle Show. Will you be offended? Absolutely. But, oh, you will enjoy it so much...

Now I realize how much of a political junkie I am; I know (and have used and/or thought) Joseph Welch's remarks, made a dozen years before I was born, more often than 99% of these.
