Don't you just love when you're reading a blog and a post seems aimed right at you? I found myself grinning and saying, "Yes, yes, yes!" as I read James' post about accidentally hitting the caps lock key. He wonders why on earth it occupies such prestigious real estate when it is so rarely used by most people. I have to say that I never gave it much thought until I got my MacBook Pro; the keyboard is condensed enough that I frequently tap the caps lock key by mistake when I'm reaching for the "a" or the tab.
Usually commiserating is satisfying enough, but I actually discovered a resolution to this problem! A commenter on the post informed me that on Macs, you can remap the keyboard, so I disabled the caps lock key! (I can reinstate it anytime I please, although I can't imagine ever needing to; as long as the shift key works, I'm all set.) Non-Mac users have to resort to prying the key off with a metal implement. Nyah-nyah.
I am jealous! I HATE the caps lock. I hit it at least once a day.

I found a utility for Windows that may do the same thing:
http://www.tucows.com/preview/327616
And it's free. I haven't had a chance to try it out, though.
