We haven't done one of these in a while! See how many songs you can identify from their opening lines, and remember that Googling kills kittens. (Answers will appear in the Comments after you've all had a chance at it.)
1. When they kick at your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun?
2. I could while away the hours
Conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain
3. Put on my blue suede shoes
And I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the delta blues
In the middle of the pouring rain
4. The first thing I remember, I was lying in my bed
I couldn't've been no more than one or two
And I remember there was a radio, coming from the room next door
And my mother laughed the way some ladies do
5. I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
I'm drunk and dirty, don't you know
6. Sun's up, uh-huh, looks okay
The world survives into another day
And I'm thinking about eternity
Some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me
7. Like a fool I went and stayed too long
Now I'm wondering if your love's still strong
8. Stop your messin' around
Better think of your future
Time you straighten right out
Creatin' problems in town
9. Way down here you need a reason to move
Feel a fool running your stateside games
Lose your load, leave your mind behind, baby James
10. When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go?
Straight down the Mississippi River, to the Gulf of Mexico
To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl that I once knew
She told me just to come on by, if there's anything she could do
All I've got is #1: Guns of Brixton, by the Clash. Good stuff!

#2 is "If I Only Had a Brain"
#3 is "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn (I think that's how you spell his name.)
#4 is "Late in the Evening" by Paul Simon
#6 is called, I believe, "Wonderin' Where the Lions Are" by Bruce Cockburn (again, I don't know how to spell his name)
#7 is "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by various artists; I think Stevie wrote it, though.

You know us guitar players, we never listen to the singer! For instance, #2... I hear Tuck Andress doing an amazing instrumental version (you should oughta hear it.) But go figure I recognize Cripple Creek!

OK, I've confirmed that Steve Earle did do No. 5 -- it's a cover of Little Feat's Willin', but I don't own that version, and had to check my iPod to confirm that it was Steve Earle at all.
