Today we got 5 letters from Steph! She wrote 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, and 3 Sunday (1 was just for Pete and Julie), and then I guess they finally all got mailed on Monday. She continues to sound happy at camp, although she's beginning the big countdown—"13 days till I come home!" "See you in 12 days!" "Only 11 more days!" etc.
The wonderful kindergarten teacher that Steph and Pete both had (and I'm hoping Julie will get) taught the kids what she calls a "double dip," or a mixed emotion. So in one of today's letters Steph wrote the same thing that I just happened to write in the letter I mailed her today, that it will be a double dip next Thursday: happy to go home but sad to leave camp. As it should be!
The very first letter we got from her, there was a vigorous cross-out near the "Dear Mom and Daddy" part, but I could make out that it originally said "Dear Mama and Daddy." It broke my heart a teensy bit that she didn't want to call me "Mama" anymore, but today she slipped up on one of the letters and wrote "Mama." (I guess it's OK if she grows up, as long as it's gradual.)
