1. You Can Get It If You Really Want - Jimmy Cliff
"The Harder They Come" has been on my Netflix queue forever. What, do they just have one copy of it or something? I last saw it at least 20 years ago.
2. Good Cup of Coffee - Vance Gilbert
Vance Gilbert should have made it really big. He has an unbelievable voice and has written some great songs. So wh'appen?
3. All Four Seasons - Sting
Blender recently named Sting the Worst Lyricist Ever: "Mountainous pomposity, cloying spirituality, ham-handed metaphors: He can do it all." I think that's a bit strong, don't you?
4. Rusty Old American Dream - David Wilcox
Corny, but I like it.
5. Pressure Drop - Toots and the Maytals
Hey, another track from "The Harder They Come"—maybe that's an omen that I'll get the movie this week?
6. Lua - Bright Eyes
The most depressing song on the planet? Yeah, I'll give you that.
7. Meet Me in the City - The Black Keys
I have no idea where I got this (perhaps No Depression or Salon's now-defunct Audiophile sampler page), but I like it.
8. Up In Indiana [Acoustic] - Lyle Lovett & His Large Band
This is one of the tracks I like best from that new CD that I've yet to review.
9. Walking in Memphis (live) - Marc Cohn
I know some people will roll their eyes, but I love this song.
10. Loretta - John Prine
A gorgeous version of a gorgeous song, from the Townes Van Zandt tribute album.
Um, actually, I'm kind of down with Blender's little article. I don't run from the room when Sting comes on the radio, but neither do I own a note he's sung since about 1988. I'll check out that Townes Van Zandt album, though!

Believe it or not, but I actually shook Toots Hibbert's hand today! I may have to rent "The Harder They Come" after seeing him live in concert. Of course I'll be behind you in the Netflix line, so who knows when I'll get it.
And the missus once told David Wilcox not to start his show until she got back from the ladies room (they passed each other pre-concert as he was coming back from the mens room).

NOT rolling my eyes at the #9 song on your list - it's also one of my favorites. It came out at the time we were getting ready to move to Memphis (I lived there for ten years), so it has a bit of a special attachment for me.
