First of all, Verbatim's search feature seems to be up and running again, so I can stop fretting about that. At first the TypePad folks kept claiming that it was indeed working even though I couldn't get it to work here; then they had me reload my blog (command-shift-R), and voilà!
Second, here's a puzzle for you: When I go to google.com on my MacBook Pro, I get the same old Google page that we've all come to know and love. However, when I go to google.com on my iMac, I get the new iGoogle page—which I can get on my MacBook only if I go to igoogle.com! I've restarted Firefox on the MacBook, but still nothing. What gives?
I think you have to sign in with your gmail account and then it will automatically bring up your igoogle page when you start it up.

Can't be that, because I'm signed in to gmail 24/7 on the MacBook but almost never on the iMac!

Maybe it has nothing to do with your end, Karen. It could be something like a load balancer. Sometimes you get shunted to a "new" google, sometimes you get the old one, and it all has to do with traffic and luck of the draw. Or it could be something totally different, but still having nothing to do with your computers.

I'm signed into Google, but I'm getting the old google page too, and I'm on a new iMac.
