Whenever I'm in danger of running out of things to blog about, I can always count on one of my appliances to go on the fritz. This time, it was the fridge, which hadn't given me trouble in exactly one year. Once again, I found myself emptying out the freezer into a cooler, paying $217 for some guy to pour boiling water down the little hole in the back, and then throwing away a bunch of questionable food before loading it all back up. This is my life. This is also why I have a deep-freeze in the basement for important things like meat and shellfish.
We ended up with exactly 6 ice cubes for tonight's cocktails, so we each took 3 and then had room-temperature refills. It'll all be OK, trust me.
I shudder to ask this...but is it a Maytag??

Ha! No, it's a GE Profile.

Maytag was the first thing that came to my mind too. Maybe you ought to create a list of all your major appliances so we don't buy the same thing.
It's amazing how dependant we get on all these things to just hum along day in and day out for us. Then when one of them doesn't, it just knocks you in the ditch.
With all the winter weather we're having in Utah I could just put everything in the back yard and it would be fine. But if the washeing machine goes out, I'd be hard pressed to go down to the creek to beat clothes on a rock.

I am going to have to review your archives on this topic before I buy for the new house. I have the GE Profile Harmony washer and dryer and I LOVE them.
Aren't you in Boston? Can't you just stick your cocktail out the window and have insta-chill. I'm getting an undercounter ice maker for the new house. It's non-negotiable like the fireplace in the master bedroom.

My parents just got a GE Profile refrigerator when they moved into their new house in November. I already had to reattach the freezer drawer handle, so I hope that is not some ill harbinger of things to come. Yikes.

I feel like I could have written this post. Heck, I basically just DID write this post. Our upright freezer died this weekend (only 4 or 5 years old) and I just tossed out tons of food. What a shame.
