This is pretty weird:
1. Brigham's, New England's venerable ice creamery, changed the name of its 2004 "Curse Reversed" ice cream to "Dice-Kream" last year in honor of pitcher Dice-K (Daisuke Matsuzaka).
2. A number of Red Sox players have teamed up with Charity Wines; sales of their wines benefit their chosen charity:
- Manny Being Merlot (benefits the Charlee Program)
- Schilling Schardonnay (benefits Curt's Pitch for ALS)
- Vintage Papi (benefits the David Ortiz Children's Fund)
- Captain's Cabernet (from Jason Varitek, benefits Pitching In For Kids)
- SauvignYoouuk Blanc (benefits Kevin Youkilis Hits For Kids)
3. Also benefiting Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids is a hot sauce developed by his brother, chef Scott Youkilis.
4. Dustin Pedroia, on the other hand, is all about the salsa.
What's next? Anyone want to offer up a name for a winning player-product combination?
You left out Youk's tie-in with "Slump Buster," an energy drink. And I'll let you Google for the real meaning of the phrase. My husband, who covered a baseball team for a newspaper, originally told me about it and I was a combination of appalled and amused.

It seems to me that D'Angelos is missing a golden opportunity by not hiring Tim Wakefield to promote a "Knuckle Sandwich."

Indeed! On the Charity Wine site, there was a Tim Wakefield "CaberKnuckle," but the page wouldn't load, so I think it must have been discontinued.
