When I discovered the problem with my book, I went to Amazon and followed the directions for requesting a replacement for a defective book that was received a gift. (Yes, there really is such a procedure.) It was quick and easy, and in just a minute, I had printed out a postage-paid mailing label and was told that my replacement was on its way.
Fast-forward a few minutes to an email saying that the book is back-ordered for 3–5 weeks, and would I mind waiting? Par for the course for a Crappy Day, eh?
I can imagine the frustration! Perhaps your local library can put you out of your misery...

Is it Water for Elephants that you are reading? Or something else. Let me know, I might have it since I have way too many books!

This has nothing to do with anything, but I just heard a guy on television say "dilapiTated."
