Debra showed me this cool pedometer thingy. My walk to school every morning is ¾ mile round-trip, then I do it again in the afternoon—and often once or twice more during the day to pick up Julie if she has early release, to work in the library, to go to a meeting, whatever. Then there's usually more walking when I do errands or housework, so I probably walk an average of 3 miles a day.
And of course you are getting even more out of it by training your mind to call it exercise, at least according to the NYT ideas section from last year!

Yes, I loved that! And I do try to remind myself of how hard I am working while I'm walking ... can't hurt.
