Here are two of the latest examples of voting problems:
- Someone in Hampton Roads, Virginia, has produced a phony flier suggesting that Virginians can vote on either November 4 or November 5. The document looks pretty official, except I bet that the Virginia State Board of Elections knows how to spell "following" and "electoral" properly. Virginians are too smart to fall for this, right? Right?
- In several West Virginia counties, some early voters claim that the touch-screen machines don't always work properly. Several people reported that when they touched the box next to Obama's name, the checkmark instead appeared in the box next to McCain's name. Some reported that this also happened when they tried to vote for the Democratic incumbent for Senator, John Rockefeller—the checkmark "jumped" to Republican Jay Wolfe. CNN points out, "The machines were manufactured by an Omaha, Nebraska-based company, Election System and Software. The machines will be used in several states this year and were among those that had problems in Ohio in 2004." Swell.
Oh God, they're not going to steal it again, are they? Please re-read my post from yesterday about what to do if you suspect that you're experiencing any kind of voter suppression or fraud. The main thing is: Don't submit your ballot (whether on paper or via touch-screen) until you're satisfied with its accuracy.

That is really scary. Of course, on our front page today is the wonderful story of the TN skin heads who were planning to assassinate Obama. Really scary stuff.

I literally do not know how I will make it through the next week.

The NYT had an article today about the thousands of lawyers deployed by both campaigns to monitor polling places. I hope we don't have an electoral fraud debacle on our hands Nov. 5.
