Yesterday was International Walk to School Day.
Each student at the elementary school was asked to make a flag from any
country and plant it in the school garden after walking to school that
morning. Julie made an Italian flag (she said she didn't know why she chose Italy),
and Pete
made a Japanese flag ("Because Japan invented Godzilla, and Godzilla
rocks.").
We walk to school every day, so it wasn't such a big deal for us, but perhaps people who are used to driving decided to try walking for a change. It was really nice to see all the colorful flags, and the local police showed up to hand out reflector bracelets to the kids.
