It's that time again, when I ask all of you who read my blog—particularly you quiet ones there in the back—to step up and say hello. Or, if you can't bring yourself to leave a comment, why not send me an email?
Here's an idea: Add "Delurk on Verbatim" to your list of New Year's Resolutions, so you'll get to cross something off with very little effort. Won't that feel great?
So, come on, step out of the darkness and into the light of Verbatim! We're all waiting for you to expose yourself! (I like this official Delurking Day logo, but I wish the apostrophe were facing in the proper direction. Ah well, online image grabbers can't be choosers. But we can kvetch about it.)
*When you read this title to yourself, did you sing it sweetly in the voice of Glenda, the Good Witch of the North, or did you snarl it in the voice of Max Cady, Robert De Niro's character in "Cape Fear"? Hmm, just as I thought.
I heard Glenda the good witch. I totally forgot about the Cape Fear version but once you mentioned it, I heard it.

I just thought of playing hide and seek.

Glenda, but an edgy, bitter Glenda who's seen a bit too much snow as of late...

Hi Karen,
I'm one of the elder bloggers who enjoys your blog because I think you have a great family. My grandchildren are grown (18 and 21), and it's fun to read about little ones. Thanks for a good read.

I heard more of a Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

Susan: Nope, it was De Niro: http://www.tubechop.com/watch/6363 (I chopped it from the VERY violent complete scene at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imuck-IAjM0.)

I am here! Also, I would like to start the book group again. xoxo

Hey Karen,
I too heard the hide-and-seek version, and added olly-olly-oxen-free. Overboard on the hyphens, eh? Sorry. I hope I'm not stressing you out.

I don't lurk--but here I am.

Actually, I lurk on others, but I do comment on your blog periodically. Maybe because you have interesting things to say. :)

I think my voice was Skipper from Gilligan's Island. I had an unhealthy fascination with that show as a kid.
As far as lurking goes, you knew I was here already. The big problem has always been getting me to shut up. :)

We enjoy your terrific insights and hope to continue linking to you on boston.com/newton.
Best to you and yours in 2009.

You know that I am the ultimate non-de-lurker...and fellow comment whore. I rarely read a post that I don't want to comment on. If I don't, it's usually because a fire started on the stove while I was reading.
I will be following the results of your experiment and probably copying it if it nets you lots of comments.

I lurk therefore I am.

Hi, Karen. I've been meaning to delurk for, oh, the better part of a month now. (I'm finally getting around to clearing out some bookmarks!)
I found your blog when I was searching for the proposed title of a blog of my own . . . which never materialized. I, too, live in the Greater Boston area and work with words.
I really enjoy your posts!
