We are up in Franconia, where it is currently 3°, but with no wind, luckily. Andy and Barbara and the kids are already over at the mountain. Jerry is running an errand (he still can't ski because of his knee replacement); he and I will head over to the lodge in an hour or so to join the skiers for lunch. But right now I am busy blogging and sipping tea. Last night I worked on a jigsaw puzzle and stuffed myself with Barbara's brisket and kugel. Not a bad way to start off a new year, eh?
Andy has always told me that Cannon is considered a real "skiers' mountain," meaning that it is very challenging and demanding. Not being a skier, I'm not sure I really get it, but I do notice that whenever I mention to people in the know about skiing that my kids learned to ski at Cannon, they always seem duly impressed. I think it is considered the real deal when it comes to no-frills, serious downhill skiing. And, hey, it's where Bode Miller learned to ski!
I'm not a skier either. No one could pay me enough to make me go on a trip to a place where it's cold and snowy. Blech. But I would like to know exactly what a hot toddy is.

Hi, Pin! Happy New Year!
A few things.....
1. I would love Barbara's Brisket recipe.
2. It was 70 degrees and sunny here today - just in case you ever decide to visit now that I've lived here 9 years.
3. Thanks so much for the Asparagus Soup recipe. Made it tonight and it was yummy!
All of our best wishes for a wonderful, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

That's cold! I loved skiing in my 20s, but now I would be too worried about breaking something. (back then--no big deal) Enjoy!

I have only gone on one adult ski trip in my life. And my sister-in-law and I were totally immersed in a jigsaw puzzle every evening. I didn't know that was part of the gig!
