Does Julie look any different to you in this photo? If you look closely, you'll see a tiny sparkling earring in each earlobe! Yes, today was the day, after a long wait for soccer season to end (yesterday). Off we went to Claire's, and it was all done in a matter of minutes. She was very brave and proud.
She spent the rest of the day announcing, "This is the first time I'm playing Skip-Bo with pierced ears!" "This is the first time I'm having Chinese food with pierced ears!" etc. Tomorrow will be the first day she goes to school with pierced ears, and she's very excited about that.
How exciting! She IS brave! I am now arguing with my daughter who is turning 18 about getting a second ear-piercing. So far, I'm winning, but for how long?

Congratulations to Julie! I remember the excitement of turning 16, which was both the day I got my driver's license and the day I'd come of age—in my mother's rulebook—and was allowed to get my ears pierced. I thought I'd be a progressive mother and let my daughter get her ears pierced whenever she wanted...and she has no interest whatsoever. Sigh.
