This was a strange weekend. Steph had a friend's Bat Mitzvah yesterday, which entailed a morning service at the temple and then an evening party. I decided to stay home with her, while Andy took Pete and Julie north for some skiing with their grandparents. I've been away from Andy for two nights at a time on quite a few occasions (and will be again later this month, when he has to go to New York on business), but I'd never been away from Pete and Julie for more than one night.
Gracie normally sleeps with Pete, so she was at a loss. She slept with me for a while, then started meowing and trying to burrow under my covers, and finally departed for points unknown. (No one knows where Mr. Jones spends the night; presumably he was there last night as usual.)
By all accounts, the skiing was great. Yesterday, especially, was unusually mild, and later my in-laws hosted the weekly ski-country cocktail party. Today was quite windy, but they still skied all morning before heading back home.
Steph had a blast at the Bat Mitzvah. And me? I worked. I house-kept. I puttered. And mostly I waited for the rest of my family to come home. In case you hadn't noticed by now, I like having everyone together.
Hey Karen -- Thought I'd catch up with you through your blog. I can relate about the liking to have everyone together. I'm the same way. Unfortunately,Joe leaves the 20th on business and returns the 29th!! Plus, Julianne heads to CA for a dance performance trip on the 27th and returns Feb.6! This for a girl who has never spent more than one night away from home. Caroline is on the same CA trip but only from the 29th to the 31st. I am going to feel very off balanced for the next two weeks.
