Remember last year when Jason from Gamewright came to our house to watch us try out some prototype games? Well, the two games we played are coming out this spring, so I can finally talk about them.
The first one was called Dweebies. It's a card game with these cute little characters that you have to try to match up. It's one of those games that you learn very quickly but then keep thinking of new strategic insights as you go along. We will definitely be adding this one to our game shelf.
The other one that we played was a complex, collaborative game called Forbidden Island. I had never played a collaborative game before, and I don't think the kids had either. It was really exciting, because each player has certain powers and possessions, but everyone needs to work together in order to get off the island. In other words, no one wins unless everyone wins. There was a ton of strategy involved in this one, and I could imagine playing it over and over again while trying to figure it out. There's a video teaser here that will you give you an idea of it. Cool, huh? I can't wait to get my hands on this one to play again.
All of the Gamewright products we own are beautifully made, with sturdy cards and boards and playing pieces, lovely artwork, and clear directions—these are the ones that you'll keep forever.
Thanks for the preview! From Feed the Kitty (our youngest) to In a Pickle (our oldest), we love Gamewright games. I especially love that they're so compact. No enormous boards to store. Can't wait to check out these new games when they come out.
