Pete is off from camp this week. This morning he had an appointment with the orthodontist at our dentist's office. He was going to evaluate Pete now that he's lost (in some cases, with assistance) some of those extra baby teeth. I was braced for the worst and was stunned when the orthodontist said that Pete doesn't need braces for any medical reasons (for instance, to stave off gum disease). However, his teeth are not straight, so he might want braces in order to have straight teeth. In any event, nothing would be done until his canines come all the way in, so we can wait until then to decide. He also said that it would likely be only about a year of braces. I really thought the verdict would be much worse.
Afterward we went to see "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." It was just like "National Treasure": exciting and fun, without gratuitous gore and bodily function humor. For whatever reason, I'm all about Nic Cage. Yes, he's ridiculously over-earnest and all that, but I dig him. So shoot me. Or blast me with your dragon ring.
I really must disagree. So many of the movies I've seen him in are bad. Maybe I've just always picked the bad ones, I don't know. But wow. They were bad. And this one didn't look any better to me. Glad to know someone liked it, but I think I'll skip it!

Did you say "I was braced for the worst" on purpose? :)

Ha! No, that just slipped in!

That's what I'm saying, Scott -- there's just something about him I just find appealing, even when the movies suck. But I did like "National Treasure" and this one too. They're not the sort of thing I'd see on my own, but as far as Disney action flicks, they were both pure entertainment.

Love Nic. Even in movies like Face/Off when we're supposed to believe that if you switch the faces, John Travolta's wife would never cop to the fact that her husband has a whole new body. :-) One of my favs is Moonstruck. I can watch that over and over. "I lost my hand! I lost my bride! Johnny has his hand! Johnny has his bride! You want me to take my heartache, put it away and forget? "
Leaving Las Vegas is great! Depressing as hell, but great.

I don't know how crooked/misaligned/whatever Pete's teeth are, but a few years ago my mom actually teared up when I thanked her for getting me braces when I was young. I was none too happy at the time, but I am grateful for it now. Get Pete braces, even if he fights you! :-)

We all enjoyed "National Treasure." Yes, he has made some bad movies, but I sure enjoy him. It's raining again today, so I think "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is in the cards.

Wait, I get it. You women think he's hot! Ugh. He might have been back when he did Captain Corelli's Mandolin, but now? Please.
