The latest marketing trend to hit social media is the "local deal of the day" site, of which Groupon is perhaps the best-known example. The premise is simple: You sign up to receive an email alert about the deal of the day for your region, and you buy in. There needs to be a certain number of people to participate in order for the deal to "tip," but that's usually not an issue. It might be a two-for-one thing, or a discount, or some other such deal. There are more of these sites every day, and one of the newest is Weforia, which is powered by Yellow Book. So far they've launched in Boston, Phoenix, and Fort Myers, and they're planning to show up in your neighborhood soon.
Weforia offers up to 90% off at restaurants, salons, and other merchants, with two deals live at any given time. The lovely folks at Weforia have agreed to give Verbatim readers a voucher for a free car wash at any Scrub-a-Dub location with their first purchase. All you need to do is visit Weforia, create an account, and upon making your first purchase just enter promo code "SCRUB" at checkout. You'll receive your Scrub-a-Dub voucher in the mail.
Weforia also offers a $10 credit to everyone you recommend to Weforia, which means that I will get a credit if you join via my link here. Regardless, I hope you will check it out and take advantage of the free car wash deal! (If your car looks anything like mine after this winter, it can't come any sooner!)
I'm sure you caught The Oatmeal on groupon... (scroll down)
