New Year is not complete without my mother-in-law's excellent apple cake. She is a terrific baker and makes her cake, often requested, throughout the year. At Rosh Hashanah, I paged through her recipe book, found the hand-written recipe, and assumed Teddie was a friend of hers!

I'll have to give this one a try. What's Rosh Hashanah without a good apple cake?

I have not baked in years, although I used to always make an apple cake for Rosh Hashanah .. This old recipe looks fabulous with the nuts and raisins. I think I stopped baking because I ate more than anyone else.

I love apple cake! I used to make it at least a few times a year, but haven't made it since we converted our kitchen to gluten-free. We are having some beautiful fall weather in Mass., so there's still time to make an apple cake!
